Now we are discussing about the factors of Singapore's defeat, and why the ships were easily sunk and the plans to send ships down to SIngapore when ships were needed. We are also discussing about how many casualties were involved, killed, injured and how many PoWs. In addition, why was Singapore so vulnerable to bombings and stuff like that, and in what way Singapore was protected. Reasons to also why the Japanese disguised themselves to work at Singapore, for example, a waiter for 6 years. Part of the defeat was due to subdued disagreements between major officials and thus, Singapore may have overlooked certain pointers. Singapore had many defenses against coastal attacks but the Japanese commanders expected it and therefore, sent their men down the coast of Malaya on bicycles and we will further discuss the next time what will happen after Singapore was taken, during the Japanese Occupation.
